Best Zoo Taman Safari in Cisarua
Hi, my lovely readers! Finally, I'm gonna talk about my Indonesia trip. If you are looking for a day trip outside of Jakarta and if you love animal then visiting the Taman Safari in Cisarua is a great place to spend the day. Taman Safari or simply Safari Park are animal theme parks in Bogor, West Java, Mount Pangrango, East Java. It is about 2-3 hours drive from South Jakarta. At Taman Safari you can literally play with and feed the lovely animals and enjoy lots of shows and exciting rides.
Renting your own car and driver instead of a taxi is best as you can instruct your driver to stay longer in certain spots to see the animals and enjoy the view without having to watch the taxi meter run sky-high. Make sure to leave early from Jakarta around 6AM to avoid traffic and be at the entrance as soon as it opens in order to maximize your time in the place. Be prepared for heavy traffic during weekends, so if you plan to add Taman Safari to your itinerary, do it on a weekday.
Once you enter the Safari park, you will have to pay for tickets, for the car and the driver you are with. Ticket prices for international tourists are more expensive than for local. This is a type of safari where you drive through your car. For those who don’t ride their own car to Taman Safari, don’t worry because the park provides shuttle buses tours.
Taman Safari in Cisarua covers an area of 170 hectares (420 acres) and houses a collection of 2,500 animals, including Bengal tigers, Malayan sun bears, giraffes, orangutans, hippos, zebras, cheetahs, elephants, and Komodo dragons. Some, such as the Bali myna, are involved in conservation projects. The majority of the species represented are Indonesian.
Taman Safari Cisarua is a zoo that allows you to closely see animals interacting in the wild. The animals include Bengali tigers, giraffes, orangutans, hippos, zebras, and elephants. The zebras, llamas, buffaloes, and deer, are already used to the feeding from the visitors so they will approach the cars, and expecting for some carrots sticking out from the windows.
Ever wondered what it feels like when a zebra walks up to your car window and demands a carrots bite?
The fascination of having a zebra’s mouth pressed against a car window.
They are waiting for carrots at both sides of our car.
We bought carrots along the way to feed the animals. There are many stalls where you can buy banana or carrot for animals before you get to the Safari Park. What shocked me was the carrot price near Taman Safari skyrocket! You can feed them with carrots but please be aware feeding animals will make your car dirty as animals drop carrots in your car sometimes.
The waterbuck is a large antelope found widely in sub-Saharan Africa. It is placed in the genus Kobus of the family Bovidae. It was first described by Irish naturalist William Ogilby in 1833. We had so much fun taking photos of the deer and even more fun feeding them. They love carrots the most, so make sure you spend on carrots if you want to lure them without much effort.

I saw hippos relaxing by the water!
It was really interesting looking at their huge mouths.
Cassowaries, genus Casuarius, are ratites that are native to the tropical forests of New Guinea, nearby islands, and northeastern Australia. There are three extant species. The most common of these, the southern cassowary, is the third-tallest and second-heaviest living bird, smaller only than the ostrich and emu.
We moved on to the lions and tigers area, where opening windows is strictly prohibited. Please remember they are wild animals, not pets. Thus, be careful, because whenever you open your car windows, it will be at your own risk.
I had never seen so many lions and tigers in a relatively small enclosure and they seemed to be well fed.
The Alaska Peninsula brown bear or peninsular grizzly (Ursus arctos gyas) is a subspecies of brown bear that lives in the coastal regions of southern Alaska, although according to some sources it is a population of the mainland grizzly bear subspecies (Ursus arctos horribilis), or the Kodiak brown bear subspecies.

Six wildlife shows are offered, including a Wild West Show, Dolphin Show, and Elephant Show. Taman Safari Indonesia also has circus-like performances, such as cowboy show, a globe of death and safari theatre. For further information, you can check the map since the map has complete information about the park as well as the show times.
Some of the animals in Taman Safari Indonesia are trained to perform.
The tiger show was incredible! One of the trainers even lifted the immensely heavy tiger on his shoulders for a couple of seconds.
The kangaroo is a marsupial from the family Macropodidae. In common use, the term is used to describe the largest species from this family, especially those of the genus Macropus: the red kangaroo, antilopine kangaroo, eastern grey kangaroo, and western grey kangaroo. Kangaroos are indigenous to Australia.
Visitors are encouraged to drive through the park and it is possible to come within touching distance of most of the animals.
Reptile showroom.
The Komodo dragon, also known as the Komodo monitor, is a species of lizard found in the Indonesian islands of Komodo, Rinca, Flores, Gili Motang, and Padar.
Crocodile.
My husband and his friend very happy about taking pictures with the driver.
The white tiger or bleached tiger is a pigmentation variant of the Bengal tiger, which is reported in the wild from time to time in the Indian states of Madhya Pradesh, Assam, West Bengal and Bihar in the Sunderbans region and especially in the former State of Rewa.
If you wanna see orangutan, a baby white tiger, Bengal tiger, and a baby lion very closer and take a photo with them, you can visit the Baby Zoo. Each picture costs around Rp 20.000.
This orangutan is very cute and adorable.
My husband took photos with a baby white tiger, Bengal tiger, and a baby lion. I wonder why he is not afraid of wild animals.
The white tigers seemed to be more active than the lions.
You can get here easily with their shuttle bus services. Make sure you buy tickets including panda in the ticket booth at the entrance gate.
Taman Safari Bogor now makes a lovely home to two giant pandas who came directly from Shicuan Province in China.
The home of the two giant pandas in TSI is called Istana Panda (Panda Palace). It is approximately 1,800 meters above sea level. It is on the slope of the famous mount Pangrango. The climate is cool with lots of cold wind and the mist has often clouded the area. It is a very beautiful and peaceful place.
Cute panda sculpture near the front gates of Istana Panda.
I was really disappointed when we came two pandas were sleeping so we couldn't see the face of the panda. The giant panda couple, Cai Tao, the male and Hu Chun, the female, arrived in Indonesia in September last year with on a specially arranged flight from China's Chengdu. Their presence in Indonesia was based on a 10-year breeding loan agreement with the Chinese government.
Many colorful plants along the way and trees.
I want to take some detours in the great smoky mountains so that I can briefly see this great park.
The view of the top of the surrounding mountain was so amazing.
This spot is the most beautiful in the park and a unique experience in Taman Safari.
I was feeling bad because on that day there was heavy rain and many cars were lined up behind our car so we couldn't see all the animals in the Safari park clearly. But lucky, in the afternoon the rain stopped so we could enjoy the beauty of the mountain in the safari park.
Now it's time to see the red panda!
The red panda is a mammal native to the eastern Himalayas and southwestern China. It is listed as Endangered on the IUCN Red List because the wild population is estimated at fewer than 10,000 mature individuals and continues to decline due to habitat loss and fragmentation, poaching, and inbreeding depression.
The takin, also called cattle chamois or gnu goat, is a goat-antelope found in the eastern Himalayas.
Are you thinking of going pony riding for the first time? Don't be ashamed if you're a bit nervous about it, I also did it.
The first time my husband rode a camel. In the beginning, he was scared but then he settles down quickly.
This elephant looked as if he was smiling. My husband's friend wanted to feed the elephant.
Overall, I must say that the Taman Safari is a MUST visit when you visit Indonesia. Taman Safari in Cisarua was worth the long ride to visit because it was pretty different compared to the different zoo we have been to in Korea. This is one of the best safaris that we have visited and has tons of amazing things to do.
