My days in Odusan Unification Tower

by - July 09, 2021

Hi guys! After sharing with you all about Umu pudding, it's time to talk about my days in Odusan Unification Tower. I'm gonna admit that this post is gonna be a long post because I try my best to share all the info with you guys, so please bear with me until the end, I hope you guys enjoy reading it.

I didn't know much about Odusan Unification Tower when we booked the half-day tour, it took about an hour by car to get here but as you got closer you noticed barbed wire, fencing and guard towers laid out on one side of the freeway. Definitely an interesting view and sensation.

I can see the Freedom bridge through which prisoners of war returned to South Korea.

A very interesting place to visit! Especially if you are curious about the history of North and South Korea separation.

It was interesting to walk around for a short time. You can view an old train and the old railway line.

I had a short stop in this place to take pictures.

Odusan Unification Tower
Located in Tanhyeon-myeon, Paju-si, Odusan Unification Observatory was established to console the feelings of dispersed families and provide an educational site for the unification education through 5F to B1 in 1992. The observatory is situated in the northernmost ceasefire line of the western front where the Hangang River and Imjingang River meet. It offers a wide view of Songaksan Mountain in Gaeseong to the north and 63 Building in Seoul to the south. Also, it is a valuable unification security tourist attraction related to Imjingak, the 3rd Tunnel, and Panmunjeom (Joint Security Area) stretching along Jayu-ro Road in the northeast. Since its opening, almost 1,900,000 people have visited the observatory to feel the reality of the division, making this area the best national unification education site.

Once at the tower, you pay a small entry fee and you have full access. The entrance ticket costs 3000 WON.

Once we got to the entrance we were told that we had to park car down the street and take a shuttle up the hill to the tower.

Most extended wait the bus was about 10-15 minutes.

You can see far to North Korea with this telescope.

The DMZ (Demilitarized Zone), which is the North and South Korea border, is one of the most popular destinations among foreign travelers and tourists to Korea.

Observatory lounge. Inside the place has a coffee shop and a gift shop.

My husband and I were tired and wanted a refreshing drink, so we stopped for a while at Doppio Coffee.

Here sells a variety of foods, such as ice cream, cookies, breads, sandwiches, and a variety of drinks.

They also sell magnets as souvenirs.

There are lots of handmade items here, and the stuff is very cute and nice.

I ordered lemon ade and my husband ordered a glass of americano.

From the tower you can see just a few miles away the other side of the River and appreciate North Korea views, housing and other interesting things.
